Celebrating July 4th in Pleasanton is a family-friendly celebration that takes place each year at Lions Wayside Park in Pleasanton from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm. Community members are invited to join in what has become a tradition for celebrating the birth of our nation at a FREE concert and picnic in Lions Wayside Park. “Celebrating Freedom and its Evolution since the Revolution“ features a free concert by Pleasanton Community Concert Band, under the direction of Bob Williams.
Event also includes: a tribute to those who have served in the military, past, and present, and their families, the Color Guard and the The Pledge of Allegiance. Audience members provide their own chairs or blankets, and they are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. A popular feature is “A Dog & a Drink for 2 Dollars” – the hot-dog lunch sold by the Lions Club. Lions also provide hand-held American flags free to the first three hundred members of the audience to arrive. Several shade canopies will be in place, in addition to the shade provided by trees in the park.
